Climate for Change: Creating Safe, Active Environments for our Children is a one-day workshop designed for health care providers ready to be “Two Steps Ahead” with improving the health outcomes of their patients and their communities.
This CME activity, sponsored by Kaiser Permanente is intended primarily for clinicians who work with pediatric populations and their families. The course material will be helpful and relevant for any health care professional interested in exploring the links between healthy environments and healthy kids.
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Raise awareness of how Safe Routes to Schools impacts children’s health with regard to the environment around schools, air quality and asthma, and slowing climate change.
- Raise awareness of how Safe Routes to Schools impacts children’s health with regard to the environment around schools, air quality and asthma, and slowing climate change.
- Access a wide range of resources, skills, and tools to use with patients and their families that promote improved health for the entire community.
- Become advocates for children's increased physical activity by promoting walking and/or biking to school both in the community and with patients and families, and to help families become their own advocates for better health.
- Leverage their role of health care provider to advocate for improved health outcomes through public policy changes with elected officials.

Clinicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
